[Mark 12:30, 2 Timothy 2:15, 1 Corinthians 14;15……]
[The content on this page is in a state of development]
The purpose of this site is to examine Classic Dispensationalism and other theological trends that affect Christianity in our day; and, it attempts to compare the tenets they espouse against the Bible.
Some self disclousre! The site owner makes no claim to have “perfect” doctrine to offer whatsoever. That, only our heavenly Father can do! [John 7:17] Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:9-12 “now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known“ The reader is requested to read what is in this content with an examining eye just like the Bereans [Acts 17:11] did, and just like many other bloggers and writers including the late Cyrus Ingerson Scofield requested when he penned his pamphlet “Rightly Dividing The Word Of Truth” in 1888. The reader is beholden to our heavenly Father alone who has given us A Teacher to be our Ultimate Guide. [1 John 2:26,27].
More self- disclosure! Please note, this writer-blogger considers himself merely a run-of-the-mill blogger–not to be taken as a mark of humility–but rather a fact to consider while reading through this blog. He is abundantly aware that he may be “incorrectly dividing the word of truth,” else “rightly distorting the word of truth,” else even “wilfully distorting the word of truth.” While he lays claim to being saved via unmerited favor meted by our Lord Jesus Christ , he makes no claim to being either mentally or spiritually sanctified, the contrary being apparent! Further, this blogger acknowledges that being a fallen member of Adam’ s race he brings to this study a degree of his own bias. It is only our heavenly Father who renders perfect and holy doctrine–for HE ALONE is “The Perfect, Just and Good Judge and Jury.”
Beloved reader, in this blog many things are said or suggested that are intended to bring into question Christian trends of our day. “…try the spirits whether they be of God…” is one of John the elder’s famous lines. [1 John 4:1] Paul exhorts Timothy to “Rightly Divide The Word Of Truth.” This in the ultimate analysis is your responsibility and not mine.
With the above disclaimers in place, the blogger offers his concerned opinion which suggests that Classic Dispensational Theology that much of Christendom imbibes embraces error of a scale that C. H. Spurgeon described as “heresy” and David Lutzweiler one of C. I. Scofield’s critical biographers described as “heterodoxy.” Per Lutzweiler, A. W. Tozer with whom he was well acquainted had the following to say regarding the “infamous” Scofield Reference Bible that swept the imagination of the Fundamental-Evangelical Christian landscape for the first 30 years after Cyrus Ingerson Scofield released it into the mainstream in 1909. Its effects are ever present’
“One of greatest spiritual disasters ever to hit the Christian church in the twentieth century was the Scofield Reference Bible.” [so thought, A. W. Tozer!]
Lutzweiler also further reported that throughout the 1930s, and 1940s, A.W. Tozer and D.L. Moody’s Moody Bible Institute had a strained relationship–presumably on this issue. In this bloggers view many protestant Christian Seminaries, Bible Schools, Churches, and Christendom’s many streams having embraced Classical Dispensationalism along with it have embraced to a degree “the spirit of error.”
There are many who hold this view.
